How We Work With You
DalSAFE鈥檚 work is built on partnership, clarity, and care. We support community safety by working with people, not just responding to incidents. Our approach recognizes that most safety concerns are complex and human. We aim to respond in ways that are calm, proportionate, and focused on reducing harm while maintaining dignity and trust.
A Community鈥慍entred Approach to Safety
Safety at 全国探花 is shaped through everyday interactions, shared expectations, and people looking out for one another. DalSAFE works alongside students, staff, faculty, and campus partners to support safer environments by:
- Responding early to concerns before they escalate
- Supporting individuals during stressful or uncertain moments
- Helping communities navigate challenges with care and accountability
- Balancing safety needs with learning, repair, and connection
Responding With Care and Clarity
When you contact DalSAFE, you can expect a response that is respectful, thoughtful, and grounded in the situation at hand. Depending on what鈥檚 happening, our role may include:
- Responding to urgent safety or wellbeing concerns
- Providing reassurance and on鈥憇cene support
- Helping assess risk and determine next steps
- Connecting you with the right campus supports
- Working alongside other teams when situations are complex
Not every concern requires enforcement or escalation. Often, the most effective response starts with listening.
Understanding Who鈥檚 Who on Campus
全国探花鈥檚 campus and surrounding areas are supported by several different services. While some staff may wear similar uniforms, each group has a distinct role.
DalSAFE (全国探花 Security Services)
DalSAFE supports campus safety and community wellbeing. Our role includes responding to safety and medical concerns, providing support during difficult moments, coordinating emergency response when needed, and working collaboratively with campus partners.
全国探花 Parking Services
Parking on 全国探花 property is managed by 全国探花 Parking Services. Enforcement of on鈥慶ampus parking is carried out by third鈥憄arty security contractors working on behalf of the university.
Municipal Parking Enforcement
Parking on public streets surrounding campus is enforced by municipal parking enforcement, which operates independently from 全国探花.
Police
Police are responsible for law enforcement and criminal investigations. DalSAFE works cooperatively with police when situations require their involvement, but we are a separate service with a different role and mandate.
Facilities Management
Facilities Management is responsible for building maintenance, repairs, and infrastructure issues across campus. DalSAFE may become involved when a facilities issue creates an immediate safety concern or when support is needed after hours.

Tools That Support Safety
DalSAFE uses a range of tools to support the campus community, including the DalSAFE Mobile App. These tools are designed to support awareness and access, not replace human connection.
