Storytelling for Technical Roles
Jordy Fujiwara
Abstract
In a technical and business context, storytelling is a useful tool for bridging complex ideas with strategic action and decision making. This talk explores how those in technical roles can help ensure their insights are framed to inform real-world choices.
We will touch briefly on theory before unpacking some practical examples of data and technical storytelling, exploring how to curate analysis effectively and structure simple but poignant stories that resonate with decision makers. The role of generative AI for storytelling will also be discussed: both its value as a narrative synthesis tool and brainstormer, and its risks to data integrity and professional trust.
